Spring Awakening - a new exhibition by Kitty North

Kitty North

2019 has been a very inspiring year so far. Kitty spent several weeks at the start of the year painting in Chelsea, London, energised by the buzz of the city and the magnificent structure that is the Albert Bridge. This resulted in dozens of watercolours that beautifully capture the spirit of the the place, as well as the people who spend their days there.

Upon returning to Yorkshire after a stint in the big smoke, Kitty’s renewed sense of vigor was fuelled even further by the change of the seasons. At this time of year the Dale is brimming with new activity; daffodils, lambs, luscious greenery; new life stirring as the last strands of winter are shaken away, accompanied by a burst of human activity, too.

Armed with her paintbrush, Kitty set to work, determined to express this joyous period. The result is her new exhibition “Spring Awakening”, now on display at Prospect Gallery in Arncliffe. From nostalgic depictions of village life, to scenes of well-loved landscapes of Arncliffe, Burnsall, Bolton Abbey, Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent, and a selection of favourite London watercolours, you are sure to be moved by this new collection.

Prospect Gallery is open every Wednesday and Friday between 9am and 1pm.

All work in the gallery is for sale, alongside a range of striking merchandise, and further paintings can be viewed in Prospect House.
